Screen replacement is a common issue with smartphones, and it’s usually a pretty easy fix. In this comprehensive guide, we will walk you through the entire process of replacing your Samsung A12 screen. We’ll cover everything from preparing for the repair to completing the actual replacement. So if you’re ready to get started, keep reading!
The first thing you’ll need is to gather the necessary tools and materials. You will need a new LCD screen, a high-quality head screwdriver, a pry tool, and a heat gun for this repair. You should be able to find all of these items at your local hardware store. Once you have everything gathered, it’s time to move on to the second step.
Opening Galaxy A12
The back panel is a difficult task that requires a few tools. The most important tool you’ll need is a suction cup. You will use it to remove the back panel without damaging it.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following tools:
– A small Phillips head screwdriver
– A spudger or plastic opening tool
– A suction cup
– Tweezers (optional)
If you have all of the necessary tools, follow these steps to replace your Galaxy A12’s screen:
Removing A12 Back Cover
Step two: Using a suction cup, apply pressure to the back panel near the top of the phone. You should feel the suction cup make a strong connection with the glass.
Once the suction cup is secure, use your other hand to insert the spudger or plastic opening tool into the small gap between the back panel and frame.
Gently apply pressure to the spudger until you hear a popping sound. It indicates that the back panel has been released from the frame.
If you encounter any resistance while trying to remove the back panel, stop and check for any screws holding it in place. Once all screws have been removed, you should be able to remove the back panel easily. In Samsung A12, there are no screws around the cover, only clips holding the cover to the screen.
Removing Logic Board frame
Step three: After removing the back cover and battery, locate the six T-shaped screws that hold down the black metal logic board frame. Two of these screws are located near the power button, and two are located near the headphone jack. The other two screws are a little further down on either side of the phone.
Remove these screws with a Phillips #00 screwdriver, and set them aside. You can carefully remove the black logic board frame by lifting it from the top. Be careful not to damage any of the tiny connectors on the logic board as you do this.
Once the frame is removed, locate the small silver connector that connects the display to the logic board. This connector is located just above the power button on the logic board.
Use a spudger or fingernail to disconnect this connector carefully by lifting on the black tab.
Now you can start removing the old display from your Samsung A12 phone.
Step four: Remove the Battery
With the back panel removed, you should now have access to the battery. Using your Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws that secure the battery.
Next, use your spudger to pry up on the battery connector gently. Be careful not to damage the connector as you do not want to have to replace the entire motherboard.
Make sure to apply heat on the side of the battery to loosen the glue which holds the battery together to the main body of the phone. Ensure you don’t apply much heat to the battery as it is not recommended.
Now that the connector is loose, you can remove the battery by gently pulling it out of the phone.
Set the battery aside and move on to Step five.
Remove The Motherboard
The next step is to remove the motherboard. Begin by removing the one screw that secures it in place. Once the screw is removed, disconnect the antenna cable from the motherboard. It is important to remove the antenna cable because without removing the cable, you won’t be able to remove the motherboard entirely from the phone’s body.
Simply put the motherboard aside to focus on removing the other component that will help you continue with this screen replacement guide.
Now it’s time to move to step number six.
Removing Ear Piece
Step seven: Remove the Ear Piece
The earpiece is located just above the front-facing camera. Using your spudger, gently pry up on the earpiece and remove it from the phone. It is a very straightforward process, so that it won’t take time. Make sure you apply minimum heat to the earpiece to loosen the glue. This way, you will eliminate any chance of damaging the earpiece.
Set the earpiece aside and move on to Step eight.
Removing Vibrator Motor
The vibrator motor is located beneath the earpiece. Before you start removing the motor, make sure to apply heat so you can loosen up the glue. You can also use a heating pad for each step that requires minimal heat. A heating gun is the easiest and most convenient option.
Once you have successfully removed the vibrator cable, put it aside so you can focus on the rest of the guide.
Now it is time to move to step number nine.
Removing Button Flex
The next step is to remove the flex button. It is a delicate process, and you will need to use a spudger or a plastic opening tool. Be very careful not to damage the button flex as it is easily damaged.
First, locate and hold down the button flex cable. These are usually located on the right side. You have to apply some heat to loosen up the flex cable to remove it without any damage.
Removing Speaker Cover
The next step is to remove the speaker cover. It is a small, circular piece of metal located at the bottom of the phone. To remove it, use a small Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew seven screws that hold it in place. Once the screws are removed, you can gently pry off the speaker cover with a plastic opening tool. Be careful not to damage the speaker underneath.
Once the cover is off, you have to securely place the cover and the screws in a safe area so that you won’t lose them. Under the cover, you will see an antenna cable and the LCD connector. It is where step eleven begins.
Removing Charging Port Board
Start by removing the LCD connecter and the antenna cable with a tweezer so you can make sure nothing is damaged. Once these two cables are unattached from the charging port board, you can safely remove them so you can continue further.
Now you have to take out the speaker from the phone’s left side. Removing it is easy. All you have to do is clip it with a tweezer, and it will come out.
Now the moment you have been waiting for! Once you have completed all the steps, you will be left out with the screen frame you will replace. You can find the screen frame from the market or online shops. There are brand new screen frames, and there are used ones. We recommend using a brand new screen frame so you can enjoy your Samsung A12 just like a new one.
To reassemble your Samsung A12, you have to go backwards with each step, following the tips mentioned above. Put all the screws in a secure place and all the parts in a small box separately. If you don’t want to lose the screws, a great tip is to use a magnet on which you can stick all the screws.
